Victoria ISD will host its annual Learn to Earn Tours this fall, giving current eighth-grade students an opportunity to explore Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs of Study before making important decisions about their ninth-grade courses and high school pathways.

The Learn to Earn Tours introduce students to the wide range of CTE programs and opportunities available across Victoria ISD. Through hands-on demonstrations and presentations, students will learn how different Programs of Study can connect their interests and talents to future college, career and workforce opportunities.

Students will visit the VISD Career & Technical Education Center beginning in early November through early December. During each tour, students will rotate through sessions representing the Career Clusters available in VISD for the 2027โ€“28 school year, providing them with an opportunity to see firsthand the programs and pathways they can pursue in high school.

Providing students with early exposure to these options supports VISDโ€™s Strategic Plan and Strategic Priority 1: Exemplary Student Outcomes, including the performance outcome to ensure students graduate with their cohort and achieve their โ€œ&.โ€

The โ€œ&โ€ represents what comes next for each student after graduation, whether that is college, a career, military service, an industry certification or another pathway toward future success. By ensuring students and their parents and guardians understand the opportunities available within VISD before high school course selections begin, students can make more informed decisions about the pathway that best supports their individual goals.

Students and families do not have to wait for the Learn to Earn Tours to begin exploring their options. VISD has created a video series highlighting CTE Programs of Study and the opportunities available to students.

Through CTE, students can begin building skills, earning credentials and exploring potential careers while still in high school, helping them better understand the opportunities available to them and prepare for what comes after graduation.
