CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION CENTER SEAL

The Victoria Independent School District Board of Trustees officially recognized February as Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month during its January 22 board meeting, approving a resolution that reinforces districtwide support for Career and Technical Education programs and the role they play in preparing students for life beyond high school.

Victoria ISD offers robust and expanding CTE opportunities that allow students to explore career interests, gain industry-relevant skills, and earn credentials while completing their high school education. CTE programs provide hands-on learning experiences that connect classroom instruction to real-world applications and local workforce needs.

Victoria ISD offers 23 different Programs of Study in 12 different Career Clusters. These programs let students explore different fields to find what interests them and aligns with their goals.  The district collaborates with local businesses, industries, and post-secondary partners so the curriculum stays aligned with workforce needs and state-of-the-art equipment and technology. These partnerships help ensure relevant training and often open doors to internships, apprenticeships, and future employment.

To further strengthen college and career readiness, the CTE Department continues to partner with Victoria College to align Programs of Study with dual credit opportunities. These partnerships allow students to earn college credit while in high school, helping them get a head start on postsecondary education and workforce preparation.

Students typically enter CTE programs during their 9th-grade year of high school through course selection and program enrollment at Victoria East and Victoria West high schools. To support early awareness and informed decision-making, Victoria ISD is currently hosting Learn to Earn tours for all eighth-grade students. These tours give middle school students the opportunity to explore every CTE program offered in the district, learn about career pathways, and see firsthand how classroom learning connects to future careers.

Victoria ISDโ€™s CTE programs support a wide range of interests, including healthcare, technology, education, skilled trades, arts, and emerging industries. Through these pathways, students graduate with practical skills, academic knowledge, and meaningful career experiences that prepare them to become contributing members of the community.

As Victoria ISD celebrates Career and Technical Education Month, the district remains committed to empowering students to discover their strengths, explore career possibilities, and build strong foundations for their futures.
